Why Is Everyone Pissing on Apple?
Man! These past two days have been nothing but a iPhone bashing frenzy. Every popular blog has been bitching and ranting about Apple’s new update to the iPhone, some going as far as sending Apple hate-mail and re-reviewing it with horrible remarks (don’t buy it ever!). Up until the day of the new v1.1.1 update, everyone was loving it to the point where every other article in your readers were about the iPhone and how amazing it is (what was it called, the JesusPhone?)

- The iPhone was announced with a several year exclusivity deal with AT&T.
- By signing this deal with AT&T, Apple agreed to make it as difficult as possible to use the iPhone on a different network. They somewhat succeeded/failed, as it took 57 days to unlock the iPhone.
- Those who unlocked it (SIM or Jailbreak) did so at their own risk, voiding the phone’s warranty.
Now, the new update was meant to better serve all the users who legally bought and used their iPhones. For those who unlocked the iPhone, they were (and still are) able to use the phone to the full capacity that was advertised when the phone was announced. The fact that the new update bricks the iPhone doesn’t change anything. If you are one of those illegally using the iPhone, as all of us here in Dubai (and at doobye) are, you can simply not update until a new hack is found.
Until then, STOP BITCHING at Apple for doing their job. They still carry the most sophisticated and user-friendly phone available on the market, regardless of which software pack is installed on it. Instead of thrashing Apple’s efforts to better their phone, show some support to the various teams trying to unlock it again for the rest of us.

“Those who unlocked it (SIM or Jailbreak) did so at their own risk, voiding the phone’s warranty.”
And this means what? Because the phone is not ‘warranted’ by Apple, that therefore gives them the right to destroy something that belongs to you? Hmmm. o_O
“Now, the new update was meant to better serve all the users who legally bought and used their iPhones”
Really… So, you’re meaning to tell me that it is just a coincidence that right after Apple found out about all of the people unlocking their phones… Apple just so happened to release an ‘update’ that mysteriously crashes ALL of the unlocked iPhones… Hmmmmmmmmmmm - And how does this help the people who ‘legally bought and used their iPhones’?
“… … If you are one of those illegally using the iPhone, as all of us here in Dubai (and at doobye) are, you can simply not update until a new hack is found.”
(In the United States) By the Digital Millennium Act passed in 2006, it states that it is LEGAL (i.e. not ILLEGAL) to use firmware to lock or unlock your phone, as you wish, to work for any cell phone network.
“Until then, STOP BITCHING at Apple for doing their job.”
As I recall… I thought Apple’s job was to be intuitive… Not stupid =]
